Improving performance and setting targets

How do you reduce the impact of your company or organisation? You make a to-do list and set targets to stay focused.

Reducing your impact

How do you reduce the impact of your company or organisation? These are the steps you need to take:

Reduction tips for your sector/industry

You go through the list of sustainability actions that are significant for your industry. The measures have been drawn up based on Stimular’s years of experience in providing advice on environmental matters. By providing measures with a date (year) and a note these immediately form an action list.

Measures recognised by the Dutch government

Measures in your industry that are recognised by the Dutch government are shown by the Dutch coat of arms in white on a dark blue block. These are measures that you must report on in the Netherlands if your company is required to report on ESG performance.

Set targets to keep your company sharp

What is your company or organisation aiming for in terms of reducing its impact? What is your ambition? By setting targets you make your planned efforts more concrete and you can determine annually whether you are moving in the right direction.

A target may be something like:

These are the steps you need to take:

Key figures to guide improvement

Key figures give you extra control when focusing on improvement. You select the key figures that are relevant to follow and to use in goal-line charts. For this you can use the insights gained from the environmental/emission data visuals on topics with the most impact in your company or organisation.

Goal-line charts to visualise your progress

After a few years of entering data in the Envirometer you will be able to see your progress in the goal-line charts you configured. The target is shown by the patterned target area. The traffic light colours show whether you are achieving your ambition.

Additional sustainability targets (CSR)

Perhaps your company or organisation would like to include social, socio-economic or other aspects of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in addition to the environment.

These are the steps you need to take:

Goal-line charts showing social/socio-economic sustainability indicators

After a few years of entering data in the Envirometer you will be able to see your progress in the goal-line charts you configured.

How was the list of measures created?

The suggestions for saving measures are developed for each sector, and the legally required measures are also included. You can then further adjust the list yourself and filter it based on the measures relevant to you.

What goal should I set for a CO2 footprint?

That’s entirely up to you to decide.
Good to know: to limit global warming to a maximum of 1.5 degrees, we need to reduce CO2 emissions by 55% by 2030 and be climate neutral by 2050 at the latest.
You can read more about setting Paris Proof goals in the Guide by the Stimular Foundation.
